U.I. Recaptures Bowling Crown
Wayne Teel, Jim Varney, Jim Peloquin, and Tony Sanchez are all smiles after winning the 2006 bowling tournament. United Illuminating made their first Corporate Cup Bowling appearance in four years, and picked up right where they left off by winning the tournament by a convincing margin. the win marked their sixth win in their last seven appearances. They toppled defending champion Pitney Bowes by 100 pins. Jim Varney's 593 triple and 227 single were not only best for the team, but best for all competitors. He also had the team's high single with a 227. The loss to U.I. marked the end of a two year reign by Perkin Elmer. They had the lead at the end of the first game this by 15 pins (701-686) but U.I. posted a torrid 741 in the second game to pull into the lead for good. Griffin finished third in the standings with the Powerballs posting a score of 1917. Former champion Gordon Rubber finished fourth with 1877 and Griffin's Dollar Ringers rounded out the top five with a 1747. Click here for a photo album of the teams. Final Standings
