Valley United Way has received notice from the Katharine Matthies Foundation that if has received a $10,000 grant to assist with the services offered through the Volunteer Center. The Volunteer Center is the hub of volunteer activities for the entire Valley and coordinates additional programs such as the Corporate Volunteer Council, the High School Volunteer Council and the Youth Leadership Program. The Center also maintains a full time presence on the Internet through its innovative Volunteer Solutions program which offers an individual or a group to find volunteer opportunities at any time convenient to them It is also a free service for community groups that need the service of volunteers. They have the ability to post and promote their organization and volunteer opportunities very conveniently. Jack Walsh, President and C.O.O. at Valley United Way, said, "We are very grateful to the Matthies Foundation for their generous support of the Volunteer Center. The grant will allow us to continue to offer quality services that expand and enhance the range of volunteer opportunities throughout the Valley". He noted that the real value of the grant will be the time and effort donated by volunteers that will be generated as a result of the grant. |
