“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world”

– Anne Frank

The Valley joined communities across the country to recognize the contributions of its volunteers during National Volunteer Week, April 21-27, 2002. This year’s theme, "Celebrate the American Spirit – VOLUNTEER!", reflected the resolve of the American tradition of neighbor helping neighbor. The Volunteer Action Center of Valley United Way used National Volunteer Week as an opportunity to celebrate the citizens of the Valley who share their time and talent to help those in need.

To salute the volunteers of the Valley, the Volunteer Action Center recognized individuals and groups in the community for their significant contributions. The Volunteer Action Center’s Advisory Committee made this year’s Volunteer of the Year Award selections. This year’s award recipients are: (Click on pictures for larger images)
