BIC CONCLUDES ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN

BIC’s Campaign Chairman, Carl Vensel,  opened their United Way campaign bright and early on Tuesday, October 13^th at their Milford plant.  Rick Porth of the United Way of Connecticut was the guest speaker for the early morning sessions talking about the many services offered by 211.  Mindy Antunes and Elizabeth Jones-volunteers, Cindy Dugan-Child Advocate and Peggy Pisano-Executive Director of the Milford Rape Crisis Center spoke throughout the day, of the importance of educating our youth on prevention of assault and violence.  Susan DeLeon-Executive Director, Kim Selander and Roseanne Moore-Community Educators of The Umbrella Program for Domestic Violence, spoke on the following two days of domestic violence counseling and support that their program offers.  Breon Sanders of the Boys and Girls Club, former member turned employee, shared his experiences of growing up with the “Club.”

BIC also holds raffles to encourage employees to donate through the convenience of payroll deduction.  Everyone who made a pledge during the campaign was entered to win such items as:  2 round trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental US, a 32” flat screen TV, vacation days, I-Pods, gift cards and even a limo ride to NYC!  Plus, 50/50 raffles were held and themed baskets including movie lovers, wine and cheese, Italian, fine chocolate/candy, spa and coffee lovers were auctioned during the campaign. 

In addition to its annual campaign, BIC employees support their community in a number of other ways including donating funds to build a wall of Harvest House and clothing 5 children for the Back to School Clothes for Kids project.
