Carol Kirby to Chair Public Sector Division in Annual Community Campaign

 


Red Cross Leader Joins United Way Campaign Cabinet

Fred Ortoli, Chairman of Valley United Way's Annual Community Campaign has added Carol Kirby, Executive Director of the Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross to this year's campaign as Chair of the Public Sector Division in campaign. "Carol is well respected by her peers not only for her leadership of the Red cross, but for her leadership and involvement many important activities that make the Valley  a better place to live and work. We are fortunate to have her take up this challenge". In her campaign position, she will be responsible for coordinating campaign efforts with the Valley's nonprofit and public service areas including the municipal campaigns in all the towns.

Caro is a life long resident of the Valley. She attended Seymour and Ansonia public schools  receiving her B.S. degree in Social Work from Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport.  She has worked for the Valley Chapter, American Red Cross for over 20 years, becoming Chapter Executive in 2005.  In addition to her work with the Valley Chapter, Carol also directed the local Senior Community Services Employment Program until June 2006. She is a case manager for the Ansonia office of the Soldier’s, Sailor’s and Marine’s Fund.

Carol is a very active member of the Valley Council for Health & Human Services and serves on its Executive Committee. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Workplace, Inc. and a member of the AIDS Task Force for the Naugatuck Valley Health Department. She is a member of Connecticut Association for Children with Learning Disabilities in Norwalk and is also active with the Oxford Little League.

She has also been a very active volunteer with United Way serving on the High School Volunteer Council and the Volunteer Action Center Advisory Board.
