THANK YOU BIC!!!!

Santa’s helpers (employees) from the BIC Corporation were all eyes as the winners of the annual Gift Basket Raffle were announced.  This was the final United Way special event for the 2010 campaign season.  The amount of money raised “far surpassed last year’s total”, announced Campaign Chair, Carl Vensel.  In addition, even in this very difficult economy, the overall campaign increased 25% over last year including a dollar for dollar corporate match! This phenomenal campaign would not have been possible without the help of the dedicated, ambitious, hands-on and hardworking campaign committee who give of their time and talents.

Sincere thanks to the extremely generous BIC employees.  “Each year, our coworkers rise to the occasion when it comes to United Way, they never cease to amaze me with their generosity”, noted Johanne Henderson, Manager of Training and Development”

Thank you BIC for your support of the Valley United Way!  Your donations touch many lives and have a huge impact on the needy in our community.

As always, the employees at BIC are heavily involved with running a very successful United Way campaign. Since they first started doing campaigns in Milford years ago, they have raised more than $5,000,000 for United Way. Since their move to Shelton, they have now also become a very integral part of life in the Valley as well. This year's campaign was marked by employee meetings in both Milford and Shelton with a variety of speakers highlighting United Way programs and services.

The campaign committee also runs a variety of activities throughout the campaign, but the hit of this year's effort is probably the new mini-golf event! Different departments constructed a magnificent - and incredibly creative - golf course covering two floors of the Shelton facility. The 18 hole course was extremely challenging, and we doubt that anyone broke par. It included 18 imaginative holes - and two "19th" holes with refreshments. Employees had a two hour window of opportunity to play the course, and the laughs, smiles and cheers told the story of a very successful event.

Thank you BIC!
